Oxfam McGill members demonstrated in front of the Roddick gates Monday to represent mothers who die in childbirth due to a lack of adequate medical care. Male and female students lodged balloons under their clothing and took turns popping their balloon every minute before falling to the ground. The skit lasted five minutes and was conceived to imitate the childbirth mortality rate for women in the developing world. One woman every minute dies in childbirth around the world.
